It is part of Sharp HealthCare, an integrated regional health care delivery system which includes seven hospitals and two affiliated medical groups in addition to Sharp Health Plan. The first Sharp hospital opened in 1955. Sharp Health Plan was created in 1992, originally for Sharp HealthCare employees, as well as outside companies.
