Common Ground

One of the five remaining healthcare co-ops established under the Affordable Care Act, Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative covers almost 20,000 members in 19 Wisconsin counties. Common Ground partners with Aurora Health Care and Bellin Health system. In 2017, Common Ground Health Cooperative reported enrollment was up 76 percent, to 32,000 individuals. As a cooperative, CGHC is governed by a Board of Directors, elected by members. In addition, any earnings created are returned to members in the forms of lower premiums and improved services.

Three selling points for brokers:

  • Common Ground is a nonprofit insurance company created by a coalition of religious groups and other organizations.
  • In the first quarter of 2017, CGHC posted net income of $2.7 million.
  • Common Ground is one of only five (out of 23) surviving cooperatives set up under the Affordable Care Act.
